" Because you are special* to me, and I love you, I gladly give up other peoples in exchange for you; They are trivial by comparison to your weighty significance. " _Isaiah 43:4* (The Voice)

{ Why Most People Hate Sermons On Giving - S. Furtick }

.

1. The got to give approach
  • "Well I got to give to God" (Like a tax bill)
  • "If you don't, we won't"
  • Like God is limited by our human decisions
  • If the gift is given out of obligation, it is not very meaningful, and it won't be very consistent
  • God doesn't desperately need what we have, we desperately need what He has
2. Give to get approach
  • Using God as a robot, and Blessing becomes a formula
  • "If you give God $100, He will multiply and make it $10,000"
  • To really make God nothing more than a vending machine, when you put in this, and you get out that, that is a problem
  • God does give to us when we give to Him - Is a promise, is the way He is, you sow and your reap, but when we make that the object of our giving, we miss the point
  • Be a person who gets to give, not got to give
  • "I get to do it"
  • "It is a blessing to do it"
  • "I'm proud to do it"
  • "I am thankful to do it"
  • "I love to do it"
