"The old testament can not be used to prove our need to be controlled by God, the wickedness of our hearts or the idea that God uses the threat of punishment to maintain distance. The bible DOES NOT show us a God who is pursing the goal of distance. Instead the bible reveals a God who is relentlessly closing the distance and paying the ultimate price to repair the disconnection we created in our relationship with Him."
