"Today, we are faced with many humanitarian challenges but the crisis in Syria seems to be an ignored humanitarian challenge. I don’t think it’s right to ignore it. Whether we can solve the whole problem or not - who knows - but to ignore it, is not acceptable.

After watching the crisis unfold on the news reports every day for the last few years, I felt like the word from God was “What are you going to do about this?”.

I believe that one of the greatest places for churches to exhibit unity is when it comes to social justice causes where everyone can put down their denominational lines because by ourselves we can’t make a difference but together we can make an incredible difference.

The Syria Church Response is an opportunity for the Church to partner with UNICEF and support the people of Syria that seem to be cared about by hardly anyone. This initiative gives individuals, and churches across Europe the opportunity to collectively get involved and impact the lives of affected children. We want to support UNICEF in their work so that millions of children will look to the future full of hope in the midst of war.

I believe that the potential of funds that can help make a difference through this initiative is unlimited. It’s only limited by the amount of people who decide to contribute, but I think it starts at a minimum of people saying ‘let’s all contribute something’. A whole lot of people contributing a little adds up to a significant amount that can make a huge difference.

Imagine if the Church awakens to the needs of the people in Syria and together decides to respond to make a difference – I believe that the response that comes from this will be a strong message to the world that the Church can and will respond on issues of international significance, that we are not asleep while the world watches on, that the people of God are the hands and feet of Jesus in our world."

I love God because he listened to me,
